In this strange new reality we've been living in for months it is finally nice to get some normality back and go out for weekend brunching again! It's what we do best. Sometimes there are too many good choices on the menu, like here, so we end up with more plates than people... It's not just us that does this, right?

Old habits are hard to shake but I did try and pick a healthy option and went for a slice of sourdough with a smudge of mascarpone, capers and smoked salmon. Then things went a little bit off-plan as the salted caramel brownie called to me and I couldn't resist. Look at it, okay maybe you can't quite tell but it's deliciously fudgy inside, not too done, not too underbaked – it's beautiful.

And you know what? That's fine. Life is there for living and food is a huge part of that. Diet isn't about restrictive eating, it's about balance and a calorie deficit. If I ate one of these every day with all my other meals we might have a problem, but every now and then is fine. Don't punish yourself or deny yourself too much! It doesn't feel good and it can just lead you into a downward spiral. I really enjoyed it, I tracked it and will just move on with my week.

Also, it's so important to be out there in your communities supporting local businesses, now more than ever. It's not all selfless though because we're really enjoying ourselves in the process. Win-win!
