August 2020 vs May 2017

This is the kind of transformation shot I love doing the most. Find something you used to wear (and have a photo of yourself in) and try it on now. Compare how it used to fit you and how it fits you now and you'll realise what's changed and what you've lost – maybe in places you hadn't really noticed!

In these photos, it's the same dress but around three years and a good two stone difference (maybe more I'm not sure what I weighed then!) When I bought this dress it didn't fit but I just loved it and it was a bargain, so I had to have it. I used to wear it open as a long jacket, which totally worked and was fine, but I really wanted to wear it as a dress. As you can see, it wouldn't do up at all and the arms were a little tight too – clearly, comfort wasn't a priority where fashion was concerned.

For all this time I've hung on to it, determined to wear it as a dress one day. And now is the time! I thought I'd try it on as I wondered how it would fit now, not expecting to be able to do it up – but I could! And the arms are a much better fit, too. Now I can wear it two ways, though having waited three years for this, I'll probably be wearing it as a dress mostly.

Happy days!

p.s

Do you love my Adidas trainers? Couldn't resist these chunky beauties in their pastel-perfect tones. Didn't think I'd jump on board with the whole retro–trainers vibe, but here we are!
